The redistricting board has published its final map. The new map can be found here. 2021 Final Plan Interactive (akredistrict.org)
Detailed district maps will be published by the redistricting board soon. The new statewide districts will take effect next election unless it is held up in court, which is possible.
Here is my initial assessment.
As expected, there are some changes on the Kenai Peninsula. For district 29, the biggest revelations are that the southern border expanded towards K-beach and Kasilof. Most of Funny River Road and some of Gas Well Road is now in the district. Residents to the east of the Sterling Hwy south of Soldotna to Wolverine Ave and portions of Heavy Down Dr. are now in the district. Most of Seward is now in a district with Kodiak and other coastal communities. Nikiski remains in the district, as do most other communities. And lastly, the district number has changed to 8!
More to follow as we learn about the changes.
